Sri Lanka formerly known as Ceylon, is on island country located in South Asia, Situated in tha Indian Ocean southeast of the Arabian Sea. It shares maritime borders with India to the northwest and tha Maldives to the southwest.


  • Capital - The capital of Sri Lanka is Sri Jayawardhanapura Kotte, while Colombo serves as the commercial and largest city.
  • Culture -  Sri Lanka has a rich cultural heritage influanced by Buddhism, Hinduism and colonial history. The country is Known for its divers cultural festivals, traditional arts, cuisine and hospitality.
  • History - Sri Lanka has a long history dating back thousands of years. It was ruled by various kingdoms before the arrivals of Eurpean colonial powers. The island was under British colonial rule until it gained independence in 1984.
  • Ethnic Grops - The population of Sri Lanka is diverse, comprising mainly Sinhalease, Tamil and Muslim communities each with its own distinct cultural practices and languages.
  • Language - Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages of Sri Lanka, with English also widely spoken, especially in business and government.
